Last year my family decided to make the switch from our colorful, vintage Christmas lights to new LED lights because the LED lights are more energy efficient. It was a good switch since our home runs on solar power. But, there were some issues with the purchase of the LED lights.
The story begins at the CVS store near our home. I went with my husband to the store to pick up packages of the new LED light strands. On the first trip they had plenty in stock. We picked up 6 packages and began the decorating. We got into the project to find that 2 out of the 6 packages didn’t work! We went back to the store the next day to pick up replacements and to get 2 additional strands. On the end of one aisle we unplugged a stereo to test the packages right in the store. We found that many of the brand new packages did not work! Finally we left with enough LED lights to finish our project. So beware when you are out there shopping. You might want to test the lights in store. I have this feeling that the store helpers simply put damaged merchandise back on the shelves. Quality control on the LED lighting products was an issue and we were paying regular price. It’s a great idea to go green and switch to LED but you don’t want to waste gas going back and forth to the store when the product is faulty.
I hope everyone enjoys the lights this year. It’s the last day of November and I already see nice holiday light displays all around my neighborhood!
